The Independent Oxford Alliance (IOA) has issued an open letter to Labour Party activists and volunteers across Oxfordshire. Co-signed by Dr Anne Gwinnett, IOA Party Chair, and Nasreen Majeed, County Candidate for Marston & Northway, the letter calls on Labour supporters to reconsider their allegiance and join a movement rooted in local representation and accountability.
The letter sets out a clear and direct challenge to Labour’s local leadership, criticising its ongoing support for divisive transport policies and its failure to engage with resident concerns. The IOA argues that Labour’s actions have eroded public trust and damaged communities across Oxford, especially those most vulnerable to increased costs and reduced access.
The letter:
- Highlights a pattern of ignored consultation, public protest, and cross-party appeals
- Identifies the social and economic impact of measures like LTNs, ZEZ, and traffic filters
- Makes a direct appeal to grassroots Labour members to leave the party and join the IOA
This is not just a local dispute over transport policy. It reflects a wider frustration with party politics and the growing momentum behind independent candidates in Oxfordshire ahead of the May 2025 elections.
