Oxford’s educational institutions are renowned worldwide, but educational standards in some of our schools are amongst the lowest in the country. This divide must be addressed.
Our commitment is to:
- Ensure that education is tailored to student needs, accessed through different types of school and models of delivery. One size does not fit all.
- Respect parent and student choice, ensuring that decisions are informed by their knowledge and preferences regarding the most appropriate schooling options for them.
- Deliver effective support for those with special educational needs and disabilities, including appropriate transport options and supportive communications.
- Achieve timely SEND assessments, so that a child’s learning experience and development will be enhanced, not delayed by the process.
- Facilitate the recruitment and retention of excellent teachers, through housing and transport policies that support them living locally and/or commuting easily.
