Announcing David Henwood, IOA Candidate for Rose Hill & Littlemore

The Independent Oxford Alliance is thrilled to announce that David Henwood will be standing with us as an Independent candidate in the crucial Oxfordshire County Council elections on 1st May 2025!

This election is a pivotal moment for Oxfordshire residents to push back against out-of-touch Labour, LibDem, and Green policies that are driven by ideology rather than real community needs.

Challenging Unjust Transport Policies

For far too long, Oxfordshire County Council has implemented policies like Traffic Filters, the Workplace Parking Levy, Controlled Parking Zones, and Low Traffic Neighbourhoods without fully considering their broader impact. These measures place an unfair burden on small businesses and hinder people’s everyday lives—making it harder to commute to work, care for elderly relatives, and attend after-school activities. David advocates for a strong transportation plan developed in collaboration with transport providers to ensure fair and practical solutions.

Eliminating Wasteful Spending & Poor Management

A review of the County Council’s accounts has uncovered millions of pounds squandered while crucial services like special needs education and elderly social care remain underfunded. Despite holding substantial unspent funds and investments, the Council allows essential services to struggle. David is dedicated to putting an end to this inefficiency, promoting transparency, and ensuring taxpayer money is used effectively for the benefit of residents.

Backing Local Businesses

David understands the vital role small and medium-sized enterprises play in job creation and community support. He is committed to ensuring that local businesses and tradespeople have the resources, assistance, and customer access they need to thrive.

A Genuinely Independent Voice for Oxfordshire

Oxfordshire deserves representatives who are not tied to big-party politics. As a truly independent candidate, David will champion policies that put his constituents first, without being influenced by national party agendas.

It’s time for change, and David is ready to fight for you!

Meet the Candidate

David Henwood – Candidate for Rose Hill & Littlemore

David Henwood

Raised and now resident in Littlemore, David is passionate about the local community. His first project was the play equipment on the Oxford Road recreation ground and then the introduction of play equipment and a BMX track on Hershel Crescent recreation ground.

He has served as a City Councillor for seven years.

David strongly believes in democracy and representing the local voice. He was elected as a City Councillor in 2024 standing with the Independent Oxford Alliance. He is now standing for the County Council where he will represent local people’s views, including challenging the unpopular transport measures currently being implemented by the County Council.

David has recently exposed Labour’s funding of the Rose Hill, Iffley and Littlemore CPZs and that local Labour councillors were complicit in their design. He has also drawn attention to Labour’s £6.6 million funding of a Mini Holland project which aims to ‘increase the permanency of the LTN scheme’.

David is dedicated to:

  • A smarter, fairer transport strategy that empowers residents, workers, and businesses.
  • Stronger SEND support, ensuring those with special educational needs and disabilities get the resources they deserve.
  • Holding developers accountable with firm deadlines and penalties to prevent delays.
  • Championing local businesses with better accessibility and fairer business rates.
  • Investing in thriving communities by enhancing local development and facilities.
